Uganda is the Africa’s foremost birding destination, having a range of birds topping to 1,054 species. The country has 30,000 square kilometres of wetlands which are a habitant to many different water birds, however many of these bird species do live within the tropical rain forests baring rare sightings being referred to as mythical. Uganda’s bird record presents 60% of the species found within the African continent and 11% population of the entire world. However the total number of the birds will continue to change due to the discoveries of new species that have been added to Uganda’s list because of the new sightings made.

There are various reasons to as why Uganda is regarded as the best birding destination which are attributed to Climate and weather, the location of the country, Diversity of the species, conservation of the bird life, culture and the relief of the country.
