

What To Know About the Afep Pigeon in Uganda?
The Afep Pigeon in Uganda is one of the African birds of Uganda seen during Uganda birding safaris. It can also be called the African wood pigeon or gray woodpigeon. It is a bird species in is a member of the family Columbidae which lives in Africa.
In West Africa it can be found in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast and Ghana. In Central Africa its range extends from south-eastern Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic to Uganda in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
How Does the Afep Pigeon in Uganda Look Like?
Afep pigeons have dark gar wings and tail, neck is pale gray and the body is pale gray too. The irises and eye ceres are bright red.
The mantle, back and rump feather have silver grey edges as well as the hindneck and crown are silvery grey too. It is a medium sized bird with length 35-36cm and weight 356 to 490g.
How Does the Afep Pigeon in Uganda Feed?
The Afep pigeon eats mostly fruits, berries and seeds, including those of Solanum torvum, Musanga, Coelocaryon, Eisterya.
