What to Know About the African Skimmer in Uganda?

The African Skimmer in Uganda is one of the African birds of Uganda seen during Uganda birding safaris & Tours. The African skimmer is a near-endangered bird species of the skimmer genus Rynchops in the family Laridae.

It breeds along rivers, lakes and lagoons in Sub-Saharan Africa. It can be found along river Nile in Murchison falls national park in Uganda.

African Skimmer has a black back, hindneck and crown. The remaining body and forehead are white, the long bill is bright orange with a yellow tip.
