What to Know About the White-browed Coucal in Uganda?
The white-browed coucal, also called the lark-heeled cuckoo or Burchell’s Coucal, is a bird species of cuckoo in the Cuculidae family.
It is a resident breeder in sub-Saharan Africa, mostly found in areas with thick cover afforded by rank undergrowth and scrub, coastal regions. In Uganda, this bird resides mostly in Semuliki forest national park.
How Does The White-browed Coucal in Uganda look like?
The white-browed coucal is an average with length between 36 to 42 cm. Both male and female are similar, the mature ones have blackish; crown, nape, rump, bill, feet and tail.
The supercilium is white, rufous-brown back. The underparts are cream-whitish, the eyes red. Juveniles have rufous barred on the crown, a faint buff supercilium, streaked upper parts and darker lower parts.
