The Dusky Long-Tailed Cuckoo in Uganda is one of the African birds of Uganda Birds seen during Uganda Birding Tours. The dusky long-tailed cuckoo is a bird species in the Cuculidae family. It breeds in most of African countries including:-Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo, and Uganda in Murchison falls national park it prefers forests along the rivers.

How Does the Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo in Uganda Look Like?

The dusky long-tailed cuckoo is a medium sized bird of about 33 cm long and 50–61 g weight. Most of the body is dark brown like the head, nape, eyes, wings and other upperparts, washed sooty-grey and with a purple-blue iridescence.

The wings have buff and white spots while the lower parts are white, with blackish-brown bars, and the vent is buff. They have a long-graduated tail.

The bill is greenish-black and the feet are yellow. Both sexes are similar. The juveniles have blackish throat and rufous bars on its upperparts. The nestling’s skin is black, and it has a yellow rump and pale feet.

They often call from tree canopies. It makes hu hee wheeu calls and a sequence of notes that accelerate, slows and descends.
